  • Spaying/Neutering

Spaying is the procedure where the uterus and ovaries are removed from a female. Neutering is the male equivalent, where the testes are removed. Having a female “fixed” before she first comes into heat can help reduce the risk of certain cancers and infections, while having a male “fixed” around the age of 6 months can limit the development of poor behavioral traits and aggression, as well as helping to avoid risks of prostate issues and cancer.

    Puppy and Kitten Vaccinations

To grow into strong, healthy dogs and cats, puppies and kittens need good veterinary care from an early age. We offer a wide variety of vaccinations as well as blood and fecal tests to ensure that your new pet gets the very best start in life. Call 480-945-4451 for more information.

    Pet Dental Care

Regular professional tooth cleaning is important for the maintenance of your pet’s oral health. As with humans, healthy teeth and gums are important for overall physical health. Pet dental care starts with a good oral exam under anesthesia; that’s followed up with a digital dental x-ray to help us identify problem areas.
We clean each tooth thoroughly, both above and below the gum line; polishing the teeth creates a smooth, lustrous tooth surface that is more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. We can also help with advanced dental care, including root canals, caps and braces, by providing a specialist referral.

    Pet Micro-chipping

The simple procedure of micro-chipping has helped reunite thousands of pets with their families; without proper identification 90% of pets never make it home. We use Home Again microchips to increase the chances of safe recovery if your pet should ever wander off! The procedure is similar to a vaccination and takes just a few seconds with no anaesthetic required.
Once the chip is inserted, Indian School Animal Hospital will pay for the first year of registration for your pet, ensuring that if they ever escape, you will have a way of tracking them down and hopefully bringing them home safely. We will give you the details of the chip, so don’t forget to notify them if you move, otherwise your pet will still be registered to the old address.

    Surgery

Indian School Animal Hospital offers our clients and their fur-kids the highest possible standard of surgical techniques, using the latest technologies. Before any surgery, rest assured that your pet will be screened to make sure they can safely undergo the procedure, and that any anesthetics used will be specifically tailored to your pet’s needs. Our fully trained veterinary and technical staff will be on hand to monitor ECG, blood pressure and oxygen saturation during the procedure, and provide intensive after surgery care.
Recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care; our technicians are trained to monitor for pain and, if necessary, round the clock overnight care can be provided through your choice of veterinary emergency clinic.

    Laser Surgery

Laser surgery is an alternative surgical method where a high intensity laser is used during the procedure rather than a scalpel. Laser surgery is preferable for some procedures as it can lead to less pain, bleeding and swelling for the patient, and therefore more peace of mind for the client. We use laser surgery for a number of procedures including spaying/neutering and cyst/tumor/wart removal. If, after we’ve discussed this sensitive subject thoroughly, you still choose to declaw your cat we will use laser surgery for the declawing procedure.

    Ultrasound Diagnosis

Ultrasound is a painless diagnostic procedure that uses sound waves to penetrate internal organs and creates screen images that can be viewed to check for issues. It has many practical applications including evaluating heart murmurs, abdominal/stomach disorders, tumors, bladder or urinary issues, obtaining biopsies and pregnancy exams. Our ultrasounds are provided by a mobile specialist that comes to our clinic to preform the ultrasound.

    Nutrition Counseling

Some pets, such as those who suffer with food allergies, obesity, urinary or metabolic diseases require special pet foods, but all pets benefit from a healthy balanced diet. Our trained staff will happily advise you on the right diet for your pet, helping to keep them happy, healthy and active!

    Behavioral Advice

Behavioral problems are common complaints; solutions to behavioral issues can sometimes be remedied by a consultation with our staff, but more serious issues may require a referral to a veterinary behaviorist.
A veterinary behaviorist is a veterinarian with advanced training in the normal and abnormal behaviors of animals, the underlying disease states that may contribute to behavioral changes, the general psychology of learning and in therapeutic medicines.
We recommend Dr Kelly Moffat in Mesa; find out more at www.drmoffat.com.
